About us and who we are
1Oak Training is a consultation and training company who specialises in all aspects of youth justice and safeguarding. Our target audiences are; care homes, schools, charities, local authorities, fostering agencies and early help centres. We offer consultation work, training and expert advice on all areas surrounding youth justice and safeguarding. We can work with local authorities and placement providers who are preparing for inspections.
We also offer advice and support to defence or prosecution barristers who require expert advice in youth matters.
Our training and consultants are delivered by experts within their area, including qualified social workers, youth justice practitioners and speech and language therapists. All staff remain in the field and have a minimum of 10 years experience within their expert area.
Our specialism is in youth justice and safeguarding and the lead trainers are both senior social work managers who remain in practise, with a combined experience of 37 years.
We are aware that placement providers are increasingly coming into contact with young people involved in the justice system. Our ethos is to ensure all providers are trained to a level that will support some of the most vulnerable children within our society.
All training is in line with Supporting Accommodation Quality Standards.
Accommodated young people are some of the most vulnerable young people within our society and many have had adverse childhood experiences which impacted on their current behaviour and attitudes.
Our vision is to ensure those care providers are equipped to support and offer young people safe and caring opportunities so that they can thrive into adulthood.
Within the structural body of today's society oppression is at the forefront of our work. Children and young people may have experienced negative experiences with statutory services designed to keep them safe. Due to this, our emphasis and ethos aims to train staff to be the best care providers, so that these children and young people, can thrive and achieve in a society that feels just.
